Units require food and supplies in order to survive, thus making the availability of and access to provisions a tactical limitation at any given moment, especially in campaigns beyond a civilization's own borders.
Each group of units can stock a fixed amount of food that can be used in campaigns into foreign territory.
Unit groups can stock up on supplies from cities, towns and farms, including both allied and enemy buildings.
